Assessment Challenges with Children & Adolescents:
Moving Beyond Problem Behaviors
Jointly presented by ICSW and The Community House Counseling Department, Hinsdale
The morning program will include a discussion of an investigative framework. Diane Leamy, Ph.D., a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in the western suburbs of Chicago since 2002, will discuss the clinical frame. Dr. Leamy was a school social worker for ten years in elementary and middle schools. She earned her doctorate in clinical social work at the Institute for Clinical Social Work, in 2008 after completing her dissertation “The Lived Experience of Adolescents with Learning Disabilities.” She is currently an adjunct instructor at the Institute for Clinical Social Work and co-chair of the Illinois Chapter of the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work.
The afternoon program will include a case presentation and an application of the assessment frame. Working from the clinical assessment frame presented in the morning session, Diane Leamy will discuss a case presented by a staff therapist at Community House (staff therapist to-be-announced); attendees will be invited to ask questions and discuss the clinical material.
Saturday, October 2, 2010 This event is postponed because of illness until Winter/Spring 2011.
