Clinical Practice Program & Clinical Lecture Series
Clinical Practice Program
Fall 2012/Spring 2013
Our one-year Clinical Practice Program (CPP) is designed for clinicians who want to enhance their clinical skills and be more effective in their practice settings. The CPP has three parts that ensure clinicians will obtain a rich and comprehensive experience that will deepen their understanding of the client’s emotional life and focus on the therapeutic relationship.
Participants in the CPP receive:
- Twelve two-hour Group Case Conferences, some with guest lecturers
- Twelve 45- to 50-minute Individual Consultation meetings with advanced clinical consultants
- Admittance to any ICSW Clinical Lecture hosted by ICSW in the 2012/13 academic year
Participants will earn 24 CEUs and a certificate upon completion. LSW and LPC participants seeking clinical supervision hours to help satisfy the 3000-hour requirement for state LCSW and LCPC licensure may make individual arrangements with ICSW consultants.
The 2012/13 Clinical Practice Program will begin in September 2012 and continue through April 2013, with specific meeting dates to be announced. Clinical Lectures and Group Case Conferences will be held at ICSW at the Robert Morris Center, 401 South State Street, 8th Floor. Individual Consultations will take place at times and locations mutually determined by the student and consultant, but most likely at the consultant’s office.
For questions about the program, please contact Gail DeLyser or Boris Thomas at (312) 935-4233. To apply for the CPP, download the PDF application.
Group Case Conference
What does a clinician need to know to be effective? How does the therapeutic process work in a wide range of clinical settings? Both semesters will focus on helping students advance their clinical skills by focusing on the therapeutic relationship and deepening the student’s understanding of the client’s emotional life. Instructors will use readings, class discussions, case material and student case presentations to provide a rich and relevant learning experience. The Group Case Conference meets from 8:30 am–11:00 am.
