Institutional Review Board (IRB)
All research proposals involving human subjects are mandated by federal regulations to be reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) before the research is begun and then annually thereafter. The IRB at ICSW is made up of five faculty members and one outside member.
The IRB is a diverse multi-racial group whose task it is to ensure that research procedures pose no risk of harm to subjects. In addition to the protection of subjects, the aim of the IRB is to facilitate ethical meaningful research.
