Meet the Director
Cheryl Neuman Meltzer, LCSW has been a practicing psychotherapist for 23 years. She graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Loyola University School of Social Work in 1995. Cheryl worked in community mental health and family service settings for 20 years and now has a private practice where she sees children, adolescents and adults. She received a certificate in Advanced Psychodynamic Practice from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, has participated in the two year Womencare Counseling Trauma consultation program and has completed the fellowship program at The Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis.
When in community mental health she headed up student internship programs and has always been passionate about training the next generation of counselors/clinicians.
Cheryl joined ICSW in 2015 wanting to be a part of a Master’s program that specifically trained psychodynamic clinicians. She has used her agency connections to build internships for the Master’s program and is always excited to build ICSW’s connections in the community. In addition to being the administrator of the Master’s program, she is a passionate mentor and serves as an advisor to all Master’s students.
“I specifically was drawn to ICSW’s small cohorts and the individual attention given to every student. I remember what an intense experience graduate school was and my goal is to help every student to feel nurtured, held and supported while they embark on the beginning of developing their professional identities.”
