Attend an Open House

M.A. and Ph.D. Open Houses Online!

ICSW’s doctoral program offers a full-time, non-resident course of study that emphasizes the application of psychodynamic theory to a broad range of practice settings. The curriculum, with both Onsite and Distance Learning options, is centered around classes that meet every other weekend throughout the semester. Coursework incorporates clinical preparation, theoretical study, research experience, and elective classes selected on the basis of personal interests. Beyond the classroom, students combine their professional pursuits and educational goals to engage in intensive research and case-based clinical training — and they do this under the guidance of close faculty mentorship.

ICSW’s doctoral graduates move on to become innovators in the field of clinical social work through service, research, and practice. As they complete the Ph.D., students are prepared to extend their careers in a wide range of professional settings, including:

  • community-based mental-health services
  • the court system
  • child welfare
  • medical settings
  • primary, middle, and secondary schools
  • private clinical practice
  • agencies serving marginalized populations
  • substance abuse treatment settings
  • private mental-health agencies
