Jannira Roman is a psychotherapist for the Department of Defense on Fort Hood Base. She has dedicated her time and efforts in treating those who have experienced sexual or combat trauma. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work at The State University of New York at Stony Brook. Jannira is currently a doctoral student at the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago. The focus of her academic work is psychodynamic treatment with a military specialization. She has various certifications and training’s such as; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Prolonged Exposure, and Seeking Safety. Her counseling experience includes 8 years in providing outpatient treatment to men and women who have experienced trauma. In addition, she was a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce in Puerto Rico. Currently, she has been working on integrating a nueropsychodynamic approach and evidence based treatments with active duty soldiers who have experienced trauma. She hopes to continue providing clinical treatment and return to teaching clinical social work in the near future.
