Ida Roldán, PhD, LCSW, graduated from the Institute for Clinical Social Work, completed a Fellowship at The Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis and her analytic training at the National Training Program for Contemporary Psychoanalysis in New York. Dr. Roldán’s clinical training began as staff therapist at Scholarship and Guidance in Chicago and then in community mental health at Fillmore Center in Berwyn, IL where she was Director of the Adult Outpatient Program.
Dr. Roldán continues her private practice in Chicago seeing adults, provides clinical consulations and supervision, and is a clinical consultant at Cathedral Counseling Center. She is active in professional and community organizations serving disenfranchised populations. Her area of interest is on how society and institutional racism, oppression, and discrimination intrapsychically affect marginalized populations.
Dr. Roldán has been involved with ICSW since 1993 as a student and subsequently as student representative on ICSW’s Board. Thereafter, she has assumed various leadership roles at ICSW including Board Chair, Sequence Chair, Co-Chair of FAC, and now Academic Dean.
“I came to ICSW expecting to advance my skills and apply what I learned to my work in marginalized communities. However, ICSW has given me much more. I have been mentored, nurtured, and challenged to grow personally and professionally. It has been my professional home where I have had the privilege to work with extraordinarily talented and dedicated colleagues and have developed lifelong friendships. As Academic Dean, I again have the privilege to work with these talented colleagues in supporting our mission as we prepare our students to be scholars, practitioners, and leaders in their fields. “
