WOMEN: DOING, THINKING, AND TALKING PSYCHOTHERAPY

What are the implications of a woman’s subjectivity for the practice of psychotherapy?  What’s being a woman got to do with it?  This series, drawing from the clinical sensibilities and personal experiences of small panels of ICSW faculty and students, will explore how the clinician’s experience as a woman situates her work. While her status as a gendered subject is often essentialized in clinical work, or treated as a given, women doing psychotherapy engage ways of knowing and working that are multi-dimensional and too rarely considered.

The objectives of the program are to enhance gender awareness among practitioners and to deepen the complexity with which women’s subjectivity in clinical practice is regarded.

There will be eight consecutive weekly sessions.  Sessions can be attended and purchased singly (for three CEU’s), or as an entire series (for 24 CEU’s).
