The Institute for Clinical Social Work Announces

Distance Master’s Program in Clinical Counseling & Psychotherapy

Your Master’s Degree. Online.

The Distance Master’s in clinical counseling and psychotherapy will focus on collaboration with small and intimate cohorts, which includes a concentration in psychodynamic perspectives with a strong clinical emphasis, taught by experienced and knowledgeable faculty at the Institute for Clinical Social Work, offering a psychotherapy and clinical counseling online degree.

The online master's classroom will be powered by Zoom featuring:  breakout rooms, live dialogue with cohort members in the online psychotherapy program and instructors through synchronous instruction, along with document and presentation sharing.  All students will be afforded the opportunity to complete their internship requirements through regional field placements, allowing their academic work to be entirely online. So, if you live in Atlanta and are interested in attending ICSW and pursuing your Distanced Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, we will assist in finding clinical placements within your area.

The Institute for Clinical Social Work has been educating scholars and clinicians in psychodynamic perspectives for nearly 40 years and has over 10 years of experience in distance education for doctoral candidates. In 2012, we added an onsite Master’s Initiative with our counseling online degree.

Below is a brief timeline of the inaugural year:

Academic Year:  2021 – 2022 (Currently the same sequence as our traditional Master’s program in clinical counseling and psychotherapy)

Fall - Launch an inaugural distance cohort integrated with our traditional Master’s program.  All online Master’s classes will begin on August 16, 2021.  When the Chicago campus reopens, students enrolling in the traditional program will return to the classroom, and distance students will continue attending classes via Zoom.

Spring Semester - On January 8th, 2022, all students will attend the Master’s Conference onsite, or virtually if the campus has not reopened.  The Master’s Conference for clinical counseling online will afford traditional and distance students the opportunity to meet, share, and attend clinical psychotherapy training/workshops entirely online.  Additionally, students will meet the administration and faculty, while visiting the beautiful city of Chicago.
